Behind the Scenes at The Savoy: Chaîne des Rôtisseurs GB Young Professional Awards 2025

What an unforgettable experience working back of house at The Savoy for the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs GB Young Professional Awards 2025. After supporting front of house last year, stepping into the kitchen this year was a whole new level of excitement, learning, and growth.

On the 24th, I had the chance to help out in the Gallery Kitchen. Shout out to Samantha for looking after me so well. Jay, your leadership skills are truly inspiring. Congrats Johan, I knew you would win. Fun fact, in my language Malay, “Johan” means champion. Well deserved.

On the 25th, the real action began. I first helped out with afternoon tea service, and the chefs kindly offered me some sandwiches, they were absolutely lovely. Later, I joined the team in preparing and plating a 4-course dinner for 150 guests. Being part of such a high-level production was intense, fast-paced, and incredibly rewarding. The teamwork, energy, and precision in the kitchen were just amazing.

Huge thanks to Chef Gerald for the warm welcome, guidance, and a thoughtful offer for us students. Thank you Ben for your continuous encouragement, and to Ashley, Michael, Giovanni, Sabina and Laura for making this opportunity possible.

Thank you Karol and all the chefs who took care of us. I am proud to have been part of this event.

Well done to all my peers and front of house colleagues. You were amazing and always will be!
