Recognising the Quiet Heroes Among Us: Quiet Acts, Powerful Change
What an inspiring evening it has been. Attending the Volunteering Awards reminded me how powerful community spirit is at the University of West London. From students and staff to partner organisations, the collective effort to give back and create positive change is truly remarkable.
Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and won an award. It is truly well deserved. Huge congratulations as well to all the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum award winners. Your contributions are deeply appreciated and it was moving to see so many recognised for their impact.
I was honoured to receive my Peer Mentor certificate this evening. It means a lot to be part of a team that supports and uplifts fellow students throughout their university journey.
A moment that really stood out was when our Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Experience), Sara Raybould, shared the story of an inspiring 80-year-old couple who had enrolled to study law at UWL. Not only were they continuing their learning journey, but they were also supporting their peers along the way. A beautiful reminder that age is never a barrier to learning or giving back.
Thank you to the University of West London Students' Union for the fantastic food. Thank you to the V Team and everyone else involved in making this evening so special. I met such beautiful people tonight and I am grateful for the conversations and connections.
