I Found Inspiration at Malaysia’s TLM Food Expo
Walking through the TLM Food Expo at PICCA Convention Centre, Butterworth today felt like stepping into the future of Malaysia’s food industry. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with passionate entrepreneurs proudly showcasing not just flavours, but creativity, sustainability, and a vision for what food can become.
One highlight was the focus on sustainability. A stall serving tea and grain drinks offered samples in biodegradable rice husk cups, a simple yet powerful innovation. Another stall showcased rice crackers made with a rice cracker pop machine that uses only pressure and heat. Watching the process was fascinating, as the machine was quick, efficient, and completely oil free and oven free.
There was also a strong emphasis on health-conscious products, including Avomilk’s avocado milk with different flavours, ThemeGood’s Bilberry Fruit Multigrain Powder, and Arkon’s coral seaweed jelly packed into cubes and beautifully vacuum sealed. I was also impressed by Icon Interfood’s vegetarian frozen food range, which reflects the growing global demand for convenient, plant-based options and highlights how Malaysian producers are aligning with international trends. The packaging throughout the expo stood out as well, consistently well sealed, hygienic, and thoughtfully designed.
Every product I encountered reflected creativity, tradition, and pride. I brought a few home to try, and I must say, Malaysia’s food industry continues to amaze me with its innovation, health focus, and dedication to quality.
Proud to witness these innovations and excited to see how they will shape the future of food in Malaysia and beyond 🌏✨
